A grant round is an offer, and the release does not say when awards will be announced. The match falls on the marina, so the program favours facilities that can front their share. The gallon totals are the agency's own tally of its own program.

Connecticut’s environment department (DEEP) announced on June 30 that it was taking applications for Clean Vessel Act grants covering pumpouts in the 2027 boating season. Applications had to be submitted by September 4, 2026. Owners of public or private marine facilities could apply to buy, install or run pumpouts.

DEEP says the money is federal, paid from a trust fund fed by excise taxes on some fishing and boating gear and on motorboat fuel. The state runs it with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and each facility covers 25% of its project, according to DEEP.

DEEP also reported its own results. By its count, pumpouts funded under the program took more than 1.4 million gallons of sewage off recreational vessels on Long Island Sound and Candlewood Lake in the 2025 season, and more than 7.2 million gallons since 2020. It said 37 marine facilities received funding this year, a list that includes facilities such as Crockers Boatyard in New London alongside yacht clubs and towns.

DEEP Boating Division Director Peter Francis said the program supports free, convenient pumpouts. When facilities are well placed and maintained, he said, boaters actually use the pumps, and cleaner water follows.

The release does not say how much money is in this round or when awards will be announced.
